The URL for the O’Brien Clan website is www.obrienclan.family (Website). The managers of the Website, including Rob Landsberry (we or us or Website Managers), value and respect the privacy of the people we deal with.

The Personal Information we collect about you depends on the nature of your dealings with us and what you choose to share with us.

The Personal Information we collect about you may include:

Tier 1 Personal Information

  • your relationship to Catherine Irene O’Brien (nee Casey) and Thomas Bede O’Brien (Irene and Bill)

Tier 2 Personal Information

  • mailing or street address

  • date of birth

  • phone number

  • stories about you or your family

  • photographs of you or your family

  • documents relating to you or your family

  • your likes and dislikes with respect to certain areas such as books, music, and movies

Note that some stories, photographs, and documents relating to your family may already be in the possession of the Website Managers, having been provided by you or some other person without any conditions around what can be done with them. These items do not fall under the definition of Personal Information.

If we collect your Personal Information, we will do so only by request to you and with your consent, and we will take the appropriate measures to protect the security of this information.

You do not have to provide us with your Personal Information. If you do not provide us with your Tier 1 Personal Information at a minimum, we will not be able to allow you to access the Website.

How do we use your personal information?

We use Tier 1 Personal Information to create a profile (Profile) for you. That profile will be published on the Website.

We will also use Tier 1 Personal Information to contact you.

We use Tier 2 Personal Information to enhance your Profile and to add to other areas of the Website, but we will only do so for those elements of Tier 2 Personal Information for which you have given us your express permission to do so, with such permission being in written form which includes via email (Approved Tier 2 Personal Information).

Disclosure of personal information to third parties

The only third parties who will have access to your Tier 1 Personal Information and your Approved Tier 2 Personal Information will be those who have registered on the Website, and who have been approved by us to have access to the Website (Approved User).

A person can only become an Approved User if they share their Tier 1 Personal information with us, and they are approved by us. While we use discretion as to who becomes an Approved User, the general rule is that a person must be related by blood or marriage to Irene or Bill, or who have close ties to Irene or Bill, their antecedents or descendants.

Each Approved User will only have access to the Website if they have registered and been approved by us, and then only via a username and password.

We will not share your information with any third parties other than Approved Users.
