Margie

A celebration of friendship, by Kate Landsberry, April 2018

I honour your years,

round and salty

seasoned

I honour your joy of life,

full and funny

            free

I honour your snazz and pizzaz

your penchant for pearls and parties

your passion for family and friends

your love of a goss and a giggle

I honour your intelligence and wit

your curiosity and willingness

to learn and grow

I honour the roles you have chosen and held

responsible roles in charge of people

and papers and budgets

but most close to your heart the roles

of sister, daughter,

wife, mother and grandmother

I honour your taste and style

your depth of compassion

your courage; your love

I honour the faith you have held all your life

and pray now that you feel

its comfort and peace

You are forever loved

forever held in my heart

forever dazzling

forever beautiful

A Facebook post from Kate Landsberry - 6 April 2018

It's hard to imagine this world not lit by the beauty, grace, style and warmth of my dear cousin and lifelong friend Margaret Bourke. Margie lost her battle with cancer and leaves such a legacy to those of us who knew and loved her.

We were just 2 of 45 first cousins on Mum's side of the family. And what a riot of a time we had, particularly as single Mums together in the 1980’s! Margie was always up for a party, a drink and a ‘goss’!

She held amazing positions, her most recent was as Strategic Finance Manager at the Competition and Markets Authority in London.

She was one of the most balanced people I have known, with a love of family and life, and a nature that embraced people and events and always worked out a way through whatever arose in life. I have always looked to Margie as inspiration for a life most fully lived. I love her so much.
